Works on the Beachport Jetty are scheduled to commence in early September 2022 and will generally be undertaken Monday to Sunday between 7am and 5pm, weather permitting. The work will typically occur on and near the jetty landings, ramp and towards the sea end of the jetty.

Because of its length, from the foreshore area, Beachport Jetty somehow looked like it was extending all the way to the South Pole!

Construction of the Jetty was commenced in 1878 and was originally intended to be 4,000 feet long with a T head, but owing to many problems with the contractors and Government Architect, the Jetty was not completed until 1882.
